My husband and I are both US Sailing Certified Sailing Instructors. US Sailing sent a promotional email on the TropicSport sunblock early in the season. It arrived when I was looking to change our habits. I wanted to find a reef friendly product that doesn’t turn our shirts orange, etc. The ingredients are nice, the smell is light and cheerfully “tropical” and “beachy.” It is not too thick, like some mineral sunblocks. I like this stuff, and I have recommended it whenever someone asked what I use. A small squirt still goes a long way. We have not used up our first round of bottles, so, I do not know if the bottles are refillable, yet. I have not tried it. We would like to reduce plastic use too. And so far, no sunburns this summer Good product. We will order it again. . Thanks.
I love Tropic Sport. I have very sensitive skin, rosacea, and burn easily. This sunblock is gentle, very effective, and not irritating to my skin. It does not crawl into eyes while working in desert heat, or while swimming. Highly recommended!
Knowing we were headed to Hawaii later this summer to visit our Ohana, we were intrigued to see the ads for Tropic Sport, but not sure if it would work or be worth the cost. Our family is committed to protecting the ocean, but I also recently had skin cancer - basal cell - and I wasn’t too keen on using something that might not work. We took two of the 6 ounce bottles to the OBX for a week, and the lip protection. The two bottles were perfect for our family of 5, and lasted through reapplication throughout the days. Yes, it is thick, and yes, it takes a little elbow grease to rub it in. Yes, if you get in the water immediately afterward, you will look like a ghost. 😂 However, it was worth it as none of us got burnt (first time ever).
The price point is a little much, and I feel fortunate that we can spend that much in sun protection. We had used a cheaper mineral sunscreen from a drugstore previously, and the difference was night and day. Where the cheaper kind kind of gets weirdly flaky, Tropic Sport absorbs into your skin. But I really, really hope they’ll get so popular the price point will eventually come down! Thanks, Tropic Sport!
Put through the rigors. I waited to write my review until our family got back from a week in Australia. A bunch of pasty white northerners in the outback with full sun.
Anyone who scuba dives knows sunscreen rubs off and washes away quickly when fully submerged in salt water... I specifically bought a spandex body suit as an alternative because of it (super flattering).
You cannot be on an open boat in full sun from 8am to 4:30 pm while doing three dives and a snorkel without reapplying numerous times normally... we applied this twice each and zero burns. Jt worked too well (imo) because I'm no less pasty then when I arrived.
We also still have nearly an entire bottle left after the week... a little goes a really long way and it never burned my eyes when water got in my mask.
I don’t get out in the sun much anymore, but knew I would on my vacation. Tried the product and it worked great on my visit to Lake Tahoe. I was impressed and will take it with me on my next visit to Hawaii in 2020
