I have a 7 and 9 year old who are both red headed/light skinned children. I have used Babyganics for years without the need for frequent reapplications and never a burn has occurred. I noticed one of the ingredients was a chemical component that can be potentially reef harmful and has not been studied well enough to know if absorption and side-affects to the person wearing it can occur so I wanted to give this a try. I have only used it once so far on the kids.
1. Despite the labeling claiming 4 hours of coverage while in water, I found my kids both got red after 3-4 hours with only intermittent water play. One of my kids complained of pain and itch over the sunburned area for a couple days after the sun exposure. Maybe 4 hours is over stated? I bet it would have covered well for a shorter time period but reapplication would be needed to avoid burning.
2. cost is more than other similar products on the market.
Moisturizing on the skin!
rubs in well with only minimal white sheen.
Safe for my family to use.
customer service and ordering process was great.
education by the company is greatly appreciated.
obvious passion from this company and I enjoy supporting such endeavors.
I have to use this product more to get a fuller idea of it's true potential. For now it gets a 3 star because avoiding a sunburn is the most important quality in a sunscreen to me. If applied more frequently than 4 hours apart (amount of time between reapplications is still TBD) I feel it would be effective. Otherwise, I don't mind paying a bit more for the overall personal and environmental benefits of the product. It smells and feels great. Rubs in well. Overall, good product. Wish it lasted longer on the skin...
