The active ingredients in our sunscreens are mineral based, not chemical, so you can be assured that they are naturally safe for you, the ocean, marine life and reefs.
We use non-nano zinc oxide. It sits on top of the skin, without leaving a filmy residue, and creates a physical barrier that both reflects UV rays away from the skin and effectively blocks UVA and UVB rays. It does not absorb into living skin cells, produce skin sensitivities or rashes, or initiate the creation of free radicals or hormone disruptors.
Other nourishing and smoothing ingredients in our products include Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Vera), Astrocaryum Tucuma Seed Butter, Baobab Seed Oil and Vitamin E.
A water-resistant sunscreen is a sunscreen which has been shown after 240 minutes of water immersion, using in vivo Sun Protection Factor test methods to provide protection against certain UV rays from the sun.
Generally speaking, multiple people are tested in normal, non-salty water after 80 or 240 minutes and the sunscreen they applied has to have the original SPF value.
What's more important is that we spent 6 years in trial and error with pro-surfers and lifeguards. If our sunscreen works great for them, then it will work great for the rest of us. Our sunscreen isn't thick, it's not sticky and it withstands friction.

According to the FDA, an adult wearing only shorts must use one full ounce of sunscreen (golfball size, or about 3 Tablespoons) per application to cover their body properly.
Approximately a teaspoon size amount is needed to adequately protect the face, ears and neck.
Using less than the correct amount drastically reduces the sunscreen’s ability to protect the skin and the SPF claim will not be met.
TropicSport Sunscreen is an eco-friendly sunscreen, containing minerals zinc oxide and titanium dioxide as it's active ingredients, which break down more readily in nature.
Recent studies have shown that some ingredients in other chemical-based sunscreens can awaken viruses that kill coral's food supply—and ultimately the reefs themselves and the animals that live there. The common ingredients that are most damaging include oxybenzone and octinoxate.
Our sunscreens are vegan and gluten free.
While we do not have any peanut derivative ingredients in our master formula, we can not guarantee that our raw material providers did not have any trace materials contaminate the formula during their production process.
The inactive ingredients make the product smooth, add a fragrance, allow the product to absorb into the skin and adhere to your skin. Without these essential ingredients, our sunscreen has a texture similar to diaper rash cream. Lower quality products have less ingredients and that is why their product stays white on your skin and only lasts 80 min.
The odor (or "base odor") of our SPF 30 and SPF 50 sunscreen without a fragrance is not pleasing. To address this we discreetly added a phthalate-free fragrance that disappears after a few minutes. In addition we have conducted insulin tests and found the fragrance was not present in the bloodstream.
Our facestick is unscented.
Fragrances are made with mixtures of various essential oils. Fragrance suppliers frequently decline to openly convey what the specifics of the mixtures because they are proprietary. All of our TropicSport formulas have undergone rigorous clinical and cruelty-free testing and the data supports that our formulas pose negligible risk of skin irritation and allergic reactions under their prescribed usage condition.
In 2020, we launched our new recyclable aluminum tubes. We are proud to be the leaders in eco-friendly products and packaging. You may not know that only a small number of plastics (less than 9%) can be recycled and only ONE time. In contrast, up to 80% of all aluminum can be recycled repeatedly.

No Hassles Return Policy. If for any reason you do not like the product purchased you have 30 days to return, just simply send the product back for a full refund. Your refund will be processed based on your original form of payment.

Make sure to include your order number. Returns received over 30 days after the return was approved may be denied. You will have to pay for the return shipping label. We do not include this in our sales price.
All of our products have an expiration date on the bottle. If there is no date, it is because the product has a 3 year shelf life, and no expiration date is required.
Our sunscreen products have a 2-3 year shelf life depending on the formulation. We move through our inventory quickly so usually only a few months have gone by since the product was packaged.
