Australia born Tony Palmer has a lifetime passion for the extreme weather and spending time in the harsh outback or chasing the perfect wave in Noosa. His passion in part comes from a long line of tropical water and sun enthusiasts. Whether it was surfing, surf lifesaving, diving, water skiing or sailing, his father and grandfather were both accomplished watermen and competitive surf lifeguards.
Given the extreme conditions of surfing — the sun, the wind and the salt water — Tony knows first-hand that skin care starts with sun protection. He founded TropicSport after his 4 year old twins started surfing. Coincidentally he contracted Lymphoma and as a result became aware of the danger of chemicals in sunscreens to both our health and the planet. He then set out to create his own. He partnered with surf mates and surf pros to test and create TropicSport, that could stand up to extreme tropical surfing and other water sports. It took 5 years of trial and error to create the perfect sunscreen.
Tony founded TropicSport with a purpose-driven ethos to be a reflection of his own personal values. TropicSport is passionate about giving back to like-minded organizations and caring for the earth’s fragile oceans, reefs and beaches.
The way we see it, the more you are living your extremes in the sun or water, the more you need a quality, long lasting sunscreen that’s not only skin friendly but also ocean and reef friendly.
